The Coolest Donut That We Ever Did See
Have you ever had a purple coloured donut glazed with purple icing? We didn’t think so!
Behold the Ube Donut!
Most of us who are from Canada, probably don’t even know what the hell an Ube Donut is!
So, What Is It? Where Does It Come From?
Ube, a deep naturally purple yam, is widely used in the Philippines for desserts and pastries – the same way pumpkin is brought to life in pies in bakeries across Canada.
This vibrant purple Ube donut is made using a yam that’s indigineous to the Philipines.
These donuts are ever so popular in the U.S., causing a Filipino restaurant by the name of Manila Social Club in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to go ahead and stand out from the rest by selling a gold-coated champagne doughnut for $100.
Manila Social Club is known for its ube doughnuts, which are purple and cost $40 per dozen.
According to the Business Insider, the golden ube doughnut (pictured above) has icing made with Cristal champagne and it’s filled with ube mousse and champagne jelly. The outside is flecked with 24-karat gold.
Some New Yorkers have apparently been willing to put down $1,200 for an order of a dozen!
